Perfection may be elusive, and ‘good enough’ is plenty good enough for most situations.
If you find yourself striving to do a perfect job and that is slowing you down or preventing you from starting or completing something, here’s a tip.
It can help to remember that perfection is an ideal, and like beauty, it is in the eye of the beholder. Even if you attain perfection, in yur view, there’s no guarantee that others will agree.
If aiming for perfection isn’t a problem for you, then you don’t need to read this post. If it is, you’ll know what I mean. I’m not saying we shouldn’t always do the best we can, or that we should let our standards slip; I’m saying that the expectations we make of ourselves need to be tempered with a realistic and grounded sense of what is acutally required of us.
‘Good enough’ doesn’t have to mean slap-dash or shoddy, it can mean sufficient to do what is required, in a particular situation.
